Hello,

My name is Jacques Walker and at best I’m an amateur photographer.  With that in mind, this site isn’t a  showcase of my photography skills, but more of a time-line of my improvement in this area.  As you’ll see, I used to think that I was a “good” photographer.  I knew how to use the camera controls and fiddle around with them until the picture came out how I thought it should look.  However, after I began reading NEX-6: From snapshots to great shots,  I realized that my skills were purely mediocre.  I lacked the knowledge of what I was actually changing and why it made things appear the way they did.

I could take pictures, but like many others, they weren’t photos.  I consider a picture to be something that’s recorded in the blink of an eye; however, a photo is more than that, it captures emotions, guides viewers, and inspires action.  From here on out, they’ll be little words as each image will speak for itself without explanation.
